ACTS OF ABSURDITY

A thrilling fusion of the most unique, ridiculous and bizarre variety acts you'll ever see.

Poineering variety arts to new and exciting levels, 'Acts of Absurdity' the brainchild of world-renowned physical comedian Daniel Oldaker was first produced in 2001 at Grainery Lane Theatre (Ballarat), a once off which then became a wekly cult event at 'The Old Bar' (Andy Tanner in Fitzroy from 2001 to 2004). After the first year Abi Collins (Co-Creative Producer, Compere, Publicist) & David Cassel (Co-Creative Producer, Compere, Graphic Designer) came on board with the support of Kim Kaos, Brett Haylock and Micheal Ling.

Providing a much needed platform for professional artists to present new or polished 10-15min vignettes. 'Acts of Absurdity' had season finale's at Trades Hall (Now Bella Union) and Nth Melb Town Hall with a 4 week season at the Regal Tent (Adelaide Fringe Fest.) and appearences at 'The Ally Cat Bar' and 'Peacock Theatre' (Hobart).

In 2005 The Melbourne International Comedy Festival co-produced 'Acts of Absurdity' at the Festival Club (Hi-Fi Bar) and since then with the support of Rani Huszar (Co-Producer, Compere, Artist) 'Acts of Absurdity' has appeared as a weekly event at 303 (Northcote), Lentil as Anything (Abbotsford) and a one off at the Edinburgh Castle (Brunswick).

After 2008 'Acts of Absurdity' ran for 4 years during the Summer months at a venue Daniel & Rani created in Nth Coburg, Melb. They converted a shop front and 'Club Varietyville' became a local icon.

With over 200 acts appearing in the program it continues to present absolutely eccentric, extrordinary quality variety entertainment.

From the producers of 'Acts of Absurdity' we would sincerely like to thank the community and most of all the ARTISTS that have made this show flourish and inspire an art-form that has now been fully resurrected.
